Hi, a properly greased chain would have no problem at the beach. But the ball bearings of the motors that’s another story!(and thats the same whether you’re in belt or chain).
Your criteria for belt vs chain should be other ones (noise, weight, transmissible power)
Have you checked jens anso’s direct drive transmission (etoxx.com). I think they would be ideal (closed box for the gears)
