Linky : e-sk8 pliant sur kickstarter

Réponse d’un commentaire

Bonjour,

bonne continuation
Hello Cyril, please excuse us for answering in English  -We hope to surpass 75k so hopefully this won’t be an issue, but it is our intention to honour all orders. -We will be shipping from Italy, but prices are in USD because the majority of IGG users are American, so we wanted to make it easier for them to order -we have had many test drives with the public, but haven’t lent boards to influencers bcs we only have prototypes.

Hi Leon
I’ve had Paolo our CEO and engineer write the following.
Cheers, Alexandra – Campaign Manager
“We are using alternatively these two cells depending on suppliers’ availability: sony 18650 vtc4 and samsung 18650 20r
The cells are connected with steel nickel coated bus bars and protected by a safety fuse. The battery pack has been approved by UN DOT 38.3 regulation for transportation of lithium batteries, and is controlled by a BMS”
Hi Florian,

the nominal voltage of the battery pack is 29.4 V, the peak Ah that hour battery can sustain continuously is around 30A, with a peak for 30s higher the 50A.

The structure of the battery is our own design so i can’t reveal. Anyway if you’re are in the sector is pretty easy to guess.

Cheers

  • protection pluie
  • charge rapide
  • applis mobile
  • sac de transport
  • phare LED

plein de trucs sympa

update du jours : batterie amovible
We’ve done some further work on the battery pack in order to make battery removal simple - this in response in particular to airlines’ continued restrictions on batteries and our desire to make Linky air-safe. We’ve made the design of the battery pack MODULAR in order to make it possible to remove it in about 5 minutes, with a set of tools we will provide. Here’s some details:

-Modular design: 5 minutes to remove the battery for maintenance reasons or for air transport

-Linky will ship with the tools required to open the battery compartment, which is made with highly resistant rigid plastic

-If required, you can transport the battery separately from the skateboard on an airplane as carry on luggage. In this way, Linky will be a normal, non battery powered skateboard that you can either bring on board or as checked luggage. The battery, on its own, has a Battery Management System and is approved (homologated) for air transport and can be brought in carry-on luggage.

Hi guys,

the beginning of 2017 was crazy here at the Linky Innovation. We have been working hard on many sides of the project to keep it on track: mechanic, dynamic, electronic and supply chain are just a few of them. Enjoy the rest of the update for the details.

Welcome to a New Prototype!

During the Indiegogo campaign we went trough the optimization of the structure of Linky. We did some important improvements regarding the trucks and the swappable battery.

We redesigned the geometry of the trucks supports, adjusting its angle and rigidity in order to improve the carving experience. We’ve tried the new solution last week and we are really happy with the results. We’ve managed to lower the turning radius to 1.5 meters more or less.

Here the result of our work! don’t care about the color. It is rapid prototyping.

The second big improvement has been the battery pack together with the sealing system. We designed an easy removable battery solution that won’t reduce the waterproof resistance of Linky.

The new electronic is on the way!

Giovanni and Fabio together with the electronic team have been working on the new electronic boards for a couple of months. We are talking about the motor controller and all the sides features such as led, usb port, charging port etc. Finally the design of the hardware is ready for the production! We can’t wait to test the new prototypes at the end of this month.

Setting up the supply chain.

Our plan was to start with the tooling of all the plastic components within February, and everything seems to be on track right now. We are doing the last screenings between a short list of suppliers in order to select the most reliable one.

…NEXT STEP

We are going to have a pitch presentation at an important start up competition here in Italy held by the famous magazine “Sole 24 Ore”. It will be the 26 of January, tell us good luck

We are wrapping up the survey in order to send you a copy of it as soon as possible. Sorry for being postponing this activity but we gave priority to other topics during the last weeks.

We will be closing the mechanical design within the next week in order to start with the tooling in February. That’s a HUGE step for our project… we’ll keep you posted.

Cheers!

#2 Work in Progress

Hey guys!

hope everything is fine from your side! The last two weeks were full of snow here in Italy…but we didn’t stop our work. We completed the testings on the road and on the bench with our new prototypes equipped with the latest firmware and the latest trucks. Here some updates.

New Electronic

We have focused our studies on the soft start and the soft brake as they are features that can strongly affect the riding experience and the safety of the riders. We are really happy with the results obtained. The riding mode « cruise » is provided with a soft start ramp and a smooth brake.

We are thinking to introduce a sort of " hand brake " mode that will keep the skateboard more stable when it is still. Who is used to starting the ride pushing and then accelerating will find it a little bit weird. What do you think about this feature? Below a video. Please don’t care about the aesthetic of the remote and the skateboard. They are « mules » used for testing.

New Trucks

We made Linky to cruise into the city! We want you to have a lot of fun but even to be able to ride avoiding the obstacles that you can find on the city streets and to turn on the classic 90degrees corner of a downtown.

Here our latest version of Linky’s trucks, you can almost do pirouettes! they are quite fun to use

…NEXT STEP

Tomorrow is an important day. Paolo is doing a pitch in a start up competition in Milan, good luck to him!

We are going to test the waterproof behavior of the new swappable battery and we will go on with the set-up of the riding modes at a firmware level.

We are testing a prototype of a battery pack with a new chemistry…maybe we will have some nice surprises on the range…stay connected

Production Update

Hi guys,

We’re sorry that we have to send you this message, but unfortunately we have to inform you about a delay in shipping. We’ve always tried to be as transparent as we possibly could, so that’s what we want to do now as well.

The main reason for the delay is that we decided to do another loop of optimization on the design before starting with the tooling.

The thing is that we need to get every single detail EXACTLY right before we go into production, because once the tools for the production are made, we can’t change things anymore. Everything has to be accurate and perfect before we go to the next step.

There are two upsides to this as well though! First of all, you can expect an awesome product where every single detail is thought through (and that you, as our backer, have a right to expect from us). Second, we’re delivering even more than we promised when we started the campaign in order to give a top class Electric Skateboard.

For example, the range has increased from what we initially stated and the remote control can now be stored inside Linky when it’s folded (watch the video to see the new remote control!). In other words, you’ll get an even better product than you signed up for.

So when will we ship? We expect to start the process at the beginning of June.

We apologise for the inconvenience. Of course, we understand that you might have questions about this. Feel free to send us an email or contact us via social media. We’ll do our best to respond a.s.a.p.

Next Steps

We have shortly mentioned it before, but we’ve been working hard on the LED light. It’s of course rain-proof, just like the entire Linky is, and super easy to replace in case of damage. Next week, we’ll show you a video.

Thanks for your support and understanding!

All the best,

The Linky Team

Update :

Hi everyone,
We’ve got some very important news. After all the testing we’ve done, it is finally time to get our CE Marking! This is mandatory by the European Union and means that we comply with all the health, safety and environmental requirements. You understand: we felt like we were back at university to pass our exams! In fact, Giovanni was actually at the University of Salerno, because that’s where the test lab was. The focus was on the electric compatibility, the so-called EMC. It’s one of the toughest parts of the CE Marking and we’re happy to say that we’ve passed the test! On to the next one…

Linky’s flexibility
We carefully studied the flexibility of Linky to provide a comfortable ride but at the same time a sporty performance. The structure is made in PA+GF30 en carbon fiber. It’s designed to be both light and resistant. Sounds cool, but you probably wanna see what it looks like, don’t you? Here we go:

Production update
As you can see, we are working very hard to get all the necessary certificates to deliver Linky world-wide. The process is going smooth and we already achieved some important results, like the EMC described above.
The toolings for the production are ready and early June, Paolo and Fabio will be in the factory to check the quality of the first production samples. After that, the assembly process will be completed… and then we can start shipping! We are getting so close to that moment and are incredibly excited about it
